i no longer consider myself a christian.. i feel that there may be a god, but if there is, he's not the god christians worship, for such a god makes no sense.. if as the bible says we need to have faith in jesus to get everlasting life,,, why would this god make it so misleading and leave so much room for ligitmate doubt,,, by having this information passed on to us by men and organizations that have not been totally honest????.
why would he use the bible to relate this information, when the bible is so full of errors????
the evidence is very clear that the bible has been tampered with over the centuries, so that a reasonable person can have legitimate doubts about the bible's origins.. also, why would god use men who are so prone to dishonesty, to convey this lifesaving information?.
Hi Frankiespeakin, I agree with you, I do believe there is a Creator, though I have no logical explaination for this. Also I am more and more convinced that the Bible is too confusing and muddled to be of much use if we are looking for 'truth', or specific unequivocal messages and instructions from God. This must be the fault of human beings, because, if God exsists and wants us to know some thing via that method, surely He would have made things a bit easier to follow? I made a post a few pages back in 'Friends' looking at this subject, specifically regarding Jesus. Its a lot like doubting the Watchtower, once we are brave enough to look something straight in the eye, and to critically examine it, it starts to fall apart.I personally don't feel like I've lost anything, it's just a new perspective isn't it? And its very interesting.

this may or may not help, so if you don't want to question everything you thought you believed about jesus, don't look.... http://www.bartleby.com/196/.
especially look down the list of contents and read the section on human scapegoats.. i have no axe to grind, i have geat respect for what we believe we know about jesus.but remember these examples are mainly long pre-christian traditions.. also please excuse the very non-pc language, it is an old book.. shirley.
Hi Devon, I had a look at the Christ Conspiracy excerpts online.Very interesting.
'Mouthy', I also believe in the Creator. I just think it's interesting that there has obviously been some 'cross-over' of traditions and probably oral history, make of it what we will. Here's a thought.... to the making of books there is no end... most of the 'books' in the Bible were written after Ecclesiastes. No axes here, just an observation.Happy thoughts...

there was a lot of threads that i've seen recently asking where everyone is at.

Hello there, I'm actually from the south west of England, but I live in North East Scotland. Hey Gadget, I used to visit my sister in Weardale Co.Durham and( I used to live there) go to the assemblies at Newcastle.Told all back here how much better it was there under cover than in freezing Perth football stadium, we got a talk on how we should go to the assemblies we were assigned to as lots started to go to N'castle.

no agenda here... just posting it as i'm sure many of us will hear about it from our relatives...
evidence suggests possible vcjd transfer via blood
by patricia reaney
Hello there, a very important note here...NO human being has ever had 'mad cow disease' This is vital to understand.
People can have CJD and NVCJD, BSE is 'mad cow disease' the B stands for bovine, OSC is a SIMILAR disease in sheep and so on. They are not the same disease just similar.
Humans could have CJD then there was a new variant hence NVCJD. The new variant human disease of a previously known human disease.I believe CJD was first found in cannibals who ate human brains.
It is known and has been known for a very long time that the human form can be transmitted from human to human by blood products, growth hormones (human), other human tissue. It cannot be sterilised out of blood products and the blood suppliers have had enough of a problem with other blood transmitted diseases.
I firmly believe that cattle are being 'blamed' for a human to human disease because if most people realised that CJD and NVCJD CANNOT be sterilised off surgical instruments there would be uproar.
A further note to panic the public... most cattle with BSE are dairy cattle, and as this disease cannot be sterilised out either, would you want to drink milk and give it to babies?
It may be that the bovine disease mutates to form CJD or NVCJD, but as yet that has not been shown let alone proved.
If anyone has any queries they can message me and I'll do my best to provide info.
My younger son had his tonsils out a few years ago and I was more concerned about his being operated on with 'second hand' instruments than anything else as this is a way CJD and NVCJD may be passed especially with throat or brain surgery.
I understand quite a number of hospitals now use disposable instruments for this very reason. No cows involved.
Some people who have had NVCJD have been vegetarians, very few vets or farmers have had it.
It could even be that it started through vaccinations that used human blood products, and been transmitted down the human line.
I would have a blood transfusion again if my life depended on it (If they got my blood group right!) I have annual vaccinations,I drink milk and I eat beef. I let my kids have all these things too.But I am very concerned about surgical instuments.
Can I get off my soap box now? Thanks for letting me rant...must get that bee out of my bonnet!
Meat pie (Shirley) with Aberdeen Angus beef.
oh yeah we have a beef farm....
about 3 years ago, my very best friend 'in the troof' slowly started to fade.
she made excuses - she and her husband were too busy running their small business, the baby was sick, the kids had something going on at school, etc... after a while she just stopped.
i thought it was her sometimes-opposing husband.
Hello Peacebaby, may you have peace. As I understand it, your last paragraph reflects a basic Islamic belief too, that everyone will believe in the only true God.I am a real novice, but I have been looking into Islam for sometime and find some Islamic beliefs very 'drawing' if you know what I mean.Strangely though, when you look into human behaviour in any religion that has been around a noticeable amount of time you see the same patterns forming.eg; 'ours is the only True religion', marry within the faith (this is also true of Zoroastrians), loads and loads of nit-picking rules that get harder to obey. Personally, I see these things as human failings, I cannot believe God would care what cloth I make clothes out of ( as in Moses' time)or whether I should eat cows/pigs/no meat/etc.Keep Holy Friday/Saturday/Sunday/no day.
As for your friend not proseletising to you, again in my limited knowledge, I think it is also a basic Islamic belief that they should not cast scorn on another's religion but, if requested, they explain or show by example the way they believe is the best way. Of course I don't know your friend but maybe she thought you would be shocked or offended?
Is your friend a bad person? It doesn't sound like she is, so I think IMHO that you should love your friend and be assured that God knows best,

Hello Heather, I collect knitting machines, also patterns for hand and machine knitting and other yarn crafts. My H is very understanding of my K/machine obsession, but I have voluntarily slowed down as I currently have over 20, some set up permanently and we have to sleep on the landing with about 12 around us. I do knit! I like to strip them down and clean them up and get old and decrepit ones going again. If I can pass them on I do, it means I can get MORE!
Shirley,(heaven for me is made of Knitting machines, meat pies and lurchers)
i have always found the topic of blood/hematology, fascinating, and even moreso, the discussions regarding: rh compatibility.. are you rh negative?
if so, do you know your alpha designation: o, a, b, or ab ?.
even if someone is not interested, nor willing to take a blood transfusion, if you are a woman, and you are rh negative, and your husband/partner is rh positive, you can bet your bottom dollar, it'll matter in the near future.
Hello Rayzorblade, its funny you should ask this question...I have 'always' known I was RH negative, my mother told me how, as a second child I was expected to be a 'blue baby', but I was ok,etc. I am B Rh negative, and carried a card etc. After having a baby and several miscarriages I had the D antigen injection each time and an updated card. Also after that but before becoming a JW, I had a large blood transfusion, so the info HAD to be right. It was reconfirmed that I was Rh neg.
TWO babies later, at the hospital I was told I was RH Positive, great consternation, that cannot be correct, another blood test, yes you ARE rh Positive. I said, did they mean I should be treated as Positive on account of the D antigen, No they said I WAS RH Positive! I tore up the new card they gave me as I thought in case of emergency it would be better to be tested again than automatically given what could be the wrong type!
Of course this account went down very well on blood card night at the Hall! (you SEEEEE, doctors don't know everything lalala)
That last blood test was over 14 years ago, maybe I should try again, what do you think of that!
Shirley, who hope she never needs another blood transfusion.
hello everyone, this question was asked of me by a 'tame' jw today, 'have you thought of starting smoking?'.
the question was put as if now that i don't go to meetings any more, i'd want to take up smoking!
as i'm middle-aged and packed in the fags yonks ago, it was especially stupid.my reply was, 'good god no, why would i?'.
Hello Eman, Joy, LT and everyone.According to my daughter, my son applied his baseball bat to her knee today, but I didn't see it with my own eyes, she said she got him in a head-lock so I suppose its alright then!(Nothing good on telly) This must really be because I am no longer in the truth and my children are on their way to becoming violent criminals.I look in here from time to time, but I haven't posted in ages.Sometimes I think of saying some thing but there are so many people with big things to sort out. Incidentally, I am still waiting for elders to get back to me on many questions, such as,where in the Bible does it say we need an Earthly Organization? What do other than Society sources say about the Org and the UN? John6; explain...I'm not holding my breath.
Meanwhile we are bracing ourselves for the V cold weather that is expected, more pies, more pies..
